A situational problem for Quebec Grade 10 Math

Here’s a situational problem I created for my Grade 10 math class: McCarthy Park. Designed for use around November-December in a Grade 10 Science-option math class in Quebec, it combines functions and quadratics.

I used this successfully with my class over two 50-minute periods. I gave my students the quadratic formulas (finding the roots from general and standard form) on the board since I was interested in evaluating their understanding rather than formula recall.

You are welcome to use this in your classes, though I would appreciate an email or tweet (@mccsteveo) if you do!
