Class Rehearsal and Reflection

In my Math teaching methods course at McGill recently, I completed a rehearsal of a lesson plan that I put together. The LP is for a Grade 11 CST (Cultural, Social and Technical) math class on the topic of Vote Counting, and is intended to be an interactive introduction to the area. It is based loosely on the Voting Methods LES I wrote last year.

I also reflected on that experience, noting several ways to improve my teaching and touching upon an unsettling exchange with one of my colleagues acting as a student. Overall, the process of planning, rehearsing and reflecting provided me with some insight that I have not had in the day-to-day reality of teaching.
